Chemical Treatment No.17 (Anodize) is the most versatile of all chemical treatments and is applicable to all magnesium alloys. The anodic coating possesses good harness and abrasion resistance, excellent paint base qualities and corrosion resistance. Thin coatings (.0001-.0003), light green in color are used in most applications which are to be painted. The heavier coatings (.001-.0015), dark green in color, provide increased corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance in the unpainted condition.
