Chemical film treatment No.9 (Galvanic Anodize) was designed specifically for alloys which do not react to give a protective film in Dow No. 7. However, chemical film Dow No. 9 is not limited to these alloys but is applicable to all alloys and forms. The process causes no appreciable dimensional change and is normally applied after machining. A dark brown to black appearance is characteristic of parts processed through this chemical film treatment.
